Toes in the Sand

2 days until our son and I are sitting on the boardwalks of Wildwood, New Jersey, toes in the sands of Cape May, and walking the pretty avenue of shops, food and more in Stone Harbor. I'm still sad that my husband has to miss out but it's tourist season here where we live and the family restaurant is non-stop. Maybe we will bring him back a sweatshirt.

Chanel Launch Limited Edition 'Diwali' Gold Nail Polish

We first saw the Chanel 'Diwali' gold nail polish on the catwalk during the Pre-Fall Paris-Bombay 2012 collection, and now it has finally hit stores in limited quantities. Inspired by India, the gold nail polish is now available exclusively at Chanel's rue Cambon and avenue Montaigne boutiques in Paris. The shade was created by Chanel's makeup creative director Peter Philips who explains his source of inspiration behind the glitzy matt gold shade: "For the Paris-Bombay fashion show, I envisioned this season's color, Le Vernis - Diwali, with flecks of gold in homage to the famous Festival of Lights that takes place every year in India." The nail polish is available now for $45. Take a look at its catwalk appearance below.

Christian Dior Resort 2013: Bill Gaytten's Final Collection is Floral & Full of Feminine Love

Bill Gaytten presents his final collection for Christian Dior before Raf Simons makes his debut at the fashion house with the upcoming Haute Couture collection. Gaytten went subtle for the Resort 2013 designs, opting for classic, feminine shapes including full high-waisted belted skirts, sleeveless voluminous mini-dresses, peplums and pleated chiffon evening pieces. Infused with some multi-colour floral prints, statement tri-colour clutch bags and nude cat-eye shades, the collection was quietly triumphant, oozing purity, elegance and femininity. Gaytten finishes off his position at the design house with a cohesive collection that fits the label beautifully, and he will continue to quietly work for John Galliano's eponymous label now that his Dior time is up.

Karlie Kloss Controversy: Vogue US July 2012: Is it Racist?

Karlie Kloss is captured by Mario Testino for the July 2012 issue of Vogue US in an editorial which explores the stunning Bahia region of Brazil, but some are already calling out the editorial for being racist - why? The editorial has two images which feature locals - the first is a woman tending to Karlie's elaborate mermaid-tail beauty treatment, and the second sees Karlie in the middle of dancers performing traditional Capoeira moves. So, why is it racist? Just because it features black people as extras in the shoot, doesn't make it racist - if the same people were white, it wouldn't even be mentioned. This editorial celebrates Brazil and pays homage to its rich culture and beautiful landscape, while Karlie Kloss pulls elaborate and awe-inspiring poses.

One Giant Step for Gisele Costs $450,000!

I read yesterday that Gisele Bündchen retained her title as the world's highest-paid model. Today, a news source calculated how many dollars she and the other list-toppers made per runway meter (that's 3.28 feet in American) walked. Gisele banked $450,000 dollars per meter, Kate Moss brought home $67,500 per meter, Jessica Stam made $48,500 per meter and Alessandra Ambrosio bagged $50,000 per meter. But the real winner here is Heidi Klum, who earned $20 million without setting foot on the catwalk. Must be nice!

Karlie Kloss Does Street Casual Right

American model Karlie Kloss has a timeless sense of style: never one to buy into a quick trend, Karlie opts for pieces that last, and puts them together to create elegant off-duty looks. Here Karlie has styled a black biker jacket, a piece which never loses its edge, with a cropped grey gradient sweater. Completing the look with dark denim jeans, black heeled boots and the most timeless piece of all, a Chanel chain bag, Karlie's smart styling continues to work in her favour. With relaxed curls in her hair and no makeup, this look is natural and fits with Karlie's style perfectly!
