Project Runway All-Stars!! Kenley The Copycat Is back!

I just saw the commercial for Project Runway All-Stars (and I think I might be the only person who still watches this series) and I literally went nuts seeing Austin Scarlett, Michael Costello and Mondo again. Also, for ratings and more controversial comparisons, Project Runway has also brought back Kenley Collins, who famously ripped off designs of famous brands (Alexander McQueen wedding gown anyone? Erin Fetherson painted prints?) and claimed she had no idea that "her" designs were so similar. Whatever honey, you were the Queen Copycat and therefore, deserved to get your bags packed. Wonder who's lookbooks are on the brain when designing this season. I cannot wait to see what they all bring to the table and how the stakes are higher since the competition is so great. Anyways, I will be blogging along to new episodes and hopefully this All-Star group will be worth watching, again.

Left, Alexander McQueen. Right, Kenley Collins "original" design. Yeah, ok.

Left, Balenciaga. Right, another Kenley Collins "original".

Would You Wear A Black Wedding Dress?

When I was 19, I remember telling my mother that the day I got married, I would wear black. Just like Sarah Jessica Parker. She laughed at me and thus forward I longed for a cream dress, because I was not wearing "white". Low and behold I ended up buying a white wedding gown, with beautiful crystal beadwork on top and a long flowy feel to it. Very "Mamma Mia". Well Miss Vera Wang has decided to spice up the wedding market with a beautiful collection of black wedding gowns. Why? Because she feels that there has to be a change to "tradition". Vera Wang has experimented with colors before. She’s tried green, blue and even purple. But for Spring 2012 season she went to the extreme – she sent 9 of her models down the runway in black pieces.

The designer explained her decision to WWD: "I found black to be fresh and tongue in cheek. With all the big weddings that happened this year, it was fun to step out of the box. I did take it to a witchy kind of place. For me, it helped build a sense of mystery that I was hungry for. And it added this sensuality and sexuality, and a little bit of severity, too.”

I found these dresses very sexy and very Alexander McQueen inspired. Thoughts?
