Gap Between Your Teeth Can Make You Famous

Every person wants to be unique and recognisable. In fashion industry it is both good and bad. If you have ordinary looks you’ll get lots of work especially on the runway where clothes are important rather than girls who model those. But if you have something that differentiates you from all the others it can be a key to world success.

Remember Cindy Crawford and her mole? The supermodel once said that she wouldn’t have been so called-for as a model unless her mole was her trade mark. Everyone knows Cindy Crawford for that mole.

Lara Stone and Georgia May Jagger seem to know this pretty well as they are in no hurry to get rid of those gaps between their front teeth. People spot them in fashion magazines and remember their faces immediately. That’s great on the one hand and really disappointing on the other. While the positive side is quite clear the negative one hides in the fact that majority of people just memorize the face and the recognisable feature but hardly try to see beyond. They just don’t take the girls seriously.

Nevertheless, this isn’t what can stop either Lara or Georgia. Lara Stone’s latest achievement is becoming the face of Calvin Klein while Georgia May Jagger has long been named Karl Lagerfeld’s favorite model.

Once you get recognized you have to work hard to convince people you have something more than your looks to show, that you have a personality that can be interesting.

Drew Does Harper Bazaar October Cover

Drew Barrymore looks incredible on the cover of Harper’s Bazaar October 2010 issue. Being naturally pretty the actress looks good even without those photoshop techniques used to make her face young and glowing.

Wearing a number of luxurious designer dresses Drew Barrymore looks stylish and very elegant. I particularly like the green strapless cocktail dress.

In October 2010 issue of Harper’s Bazaar Drew Barrymore reveals some facts about her personal life. Here are just a few highlights from the interview:

On her lifestyle: “I actually really love to lie in bed, watch TV, be a total sloth, and eat my favorite food: Kraft macaroni and cheese. Last night I was watching The Next Food Network Star, eating mac and cheese, and feeling grand. And that was after I wore a sequined Givenchy gown with giant holes cut out of it.”

Stella McCartney's Collection for Adidas

Stella McCartney is well-known for making very comfy clothing. This designer pays much more attention to characteristics of the fabric, it’s quality and fit of the item than to the design, which is often rather simple. And if I can hardly understand such a choice speaking about dresses and other type of outwear I do believe it is essential for underwear and sportswear. Working for Adidas Stella designed a collection that is great for wearing. And rather pleasant to look at. Though as usual I can’t find anything interesting concerning the design of the sports pieces I see that they satisfy all requirements of usability. Stella  McCartney’s collection for Adidas includes clothing along with footwear and even special sports accessories, such as sacks, sleeping bags and coverlets.

That's right, Bravo is bringing back 'Top Chef' season 5 finalist Carla Hall and a whole bevy of other fan-favorite cheftestants to compete in the 'All-Star' season. I love Carla! Alexander Wang's Graffiti Prints were designed by his Interns!

Alexander Wang asked his interns to doodle mindlessly on pieces of white paper for ten minutes. Then he turned those doodles into a print and used it in his spring 2011 collection. That’s gotta be like the coolest internship program in the fashion industry.

US Airways Loses $50,000 worth of Giorgio Gucci's luggage!

Looks like even the fabulously rich and famous aren’t immune to having airlines lose their stuff.

Giorgio Gucci, heir to the Gucci fortune, was flying to Philadelphia yesterday to testify before Congress about the dangers of counterfeit goods. When he landed, his bags were nowhere to be found.

But these weren’t just any old bags — Gucci had packed lots of memorobilia, along with $50,000 worth of vintage Gucci bags (including one his grandfather, the company’s founder, made for his grandmother), custom-made clothes and pictures of him that were going to be used in an upcoming documentary about his life.

Sad, right? Look how sad he looks.

US Airways is still “investigating” the loss. I fly US Airways often and the airline has only lost my luggage once. But I found out exactly where it was within an hour and had to to me at our hotel an hour after arriving there. Can’t a world famous luxury goods businessman get the same service? Is this karma rearing its ugly head after Giorgio threatened to sue his cousin Elisabetta Gucci over trademark infringement?

Perhaps the worst part of the whole ordeal is that Gucci didn’t have any clothes, and had to make his speech to Congress in a $150 suit from Sears. Which, ew.

Gucci hopes to get his luggage back before he debuts his new Giorgio G. Cognac at New York’s Taj Pierre Hotel next week. I hope he’ll be able to get a decent suit (perhaps one with his name on it) by then.

Katy Perry Gets Kicked off Seseme Street :(

Katy Perry was supposed to star on the New Year’s Eve episode of Sesame Street, but apparently the cleavage-revealing dress she wore for the taping isn’t sitting right with parents.

It was after Sesame Street posted a segment of Perry’s episode to YouTube that the complaints started rolling in. TMZ reports:

The song made its way to YouTube Monday and racked up nearly a million views. But some parents started complaining her cleavage was too front and center. We’ve learned producers have decided not to air the song on the show.

As TMZ sagely points out, Perry’s décolletage is actually covered by fabric — though what they call “flesh-colored,” we call “see-through.”

The New York Times has published the following statement from Sesame Street:

“Sesame Street has a long history of working with celebrities across all genres, including athletes, actors, musicians and artists. Sesame Street has always been written on two levels, for the child and adult. We use parodies and celebrity segments to interest adults in the show because we know that a child learns best when co-viewing with a parent or care-giver. We also value our viewer’s opinions and particularly those of parents. In light of the feedback we’ve received on the Katy Perry music video which was released on You Tube only, we have decided we will not air the segment on the television broadcast of Sesame Street, which is aimed at preschoolers. Katy Perry fans will still be able to view the video on You Tube.”

UPDATE: Unfortunately, in between the time I read this story and posted it, Sesame Street had pulled from YouTube — it was adorable, funny, cute, & I don't think little children will even be looking at Katy. I think the whole thing was blown into proportion and just stupid. You can still view a clip of it on katyperry.com

Madonna Picks Momsen As Face of her new line, Material Girl

Normally, I don’t pay that much attention to Taylor Momsen’s attitude — despite her distaste for clothing that covers the lower half of her body, I can relate: we were all 17 once. But Momsen looked so downright miserable at last night’s launch of Macy’s Material Girl line that it actually irritated me.

Thing is, she should have been happy as a clam — or at least she should have tried to look that way. Honestly, if you had been hand-selected by Madonna to be the face of her new clothing line, wouldn’t you be grinning from ear to ear standing next to her? Color me bewildered.

Because there’s no effective way to get inside her head, I have a few theories as to what might have caused her discomfort:

1) She’s staring down the barrel of her own irrelevance and doesn’t like what she sees.
2) That thing that Tim Gunn said about her on the set of Gossip Girl is really getting to her.
3) She’s super hungry.
4) Her legs are hot because she’s used to not having anything on them.
