Runway Collection of the Week: Ralph Lauren 2010 Fall Ready-To-Wear

Each week for my Fashion Style class, I have to take a designer's collection and critique them. I chose Alice + Olivia this week, and I am so glad that this class runs in time with all the greatest fashion shows this month. It makes my schoolwork a whole lot easier. However, in contrast to the fairy-tale floral collection by A+O, I chose to showcase Ralph Lauren's Fall 2010 Ready to Wear Collection. I really enjoyed his show. I love dark colors and my favorite season is the fall. It's nice to see dark hues when so many stores now are all pastel-ready. I like seeing the thick knit hats, and standard tailoring. I think everything has an equestrian feel about it, but still so feminine and soft. I'm not going to paste my whole critiquing in here (it's 8 pages). However, I thought I'd post a couple of my favorite looks. Enjoy!

Prada: Heading In The Wrong Direction?

I was watching the Prada fashion show from Milan online this morning, and maybe it's just me, but I don't understand how some of these knits can be fashion forward. I felt the show was frumpy and unloved. It looked like yarn was wrapped around a standard dummy and then sprayed with glue and put on. I loved the hairpieces however. The models' looks were completed with thick wrapped knit bands holding up high buns of hair. I personally loved this, since I have always been a fan of my own hair being pulled up and lots of headbands. So as for accessories, thumbs up. For clothing, thumbs down. Too many other designers had better collections. My personal fave is still Alice + Olivia's collection for the fall in London. I also loved The Row's first runway show, mainly because I am "the" Olsen fan and I can't hate on anything they do. But I do love standard black, greys, and whites for clothing.

Any thoughts on the knits?
