It's a brand new glittery year in the fashion world and judging by amazing runway shows, spring and summer colors, trends and styles are sure to be a big hit! 2012 was filled with amazing events in the world of fashion. There were designer collaborations, position switches, and many more. Sit back and take a look back at all that took place in 2012.

In April Raf Simons was announced as the creative director of Dior. Jil Saunder returned to design for her own label.Nicolas Ghesquière left Balenciaga & his position went to the young and amazing Alexander Wang who accepted. Yves Saint Laurent changed its name to Saint Laurent Paris (thanks to Hedi Slimane, their new creative director).

Olympics that took place in London this year also got some fashion treatment as Stella McCartney designed sportswear for the athletes. It’s been definitely a big year for designer who scooped two British Fashion Awards for Designer and Designer Brand of the Year and named on the 2013 New Year Honours list.

For the love of Cara:
The face of 2012 definitely was supermodel Cara Delevingne who also won a British Fashion Award for being a Model of the Year. Also scoring high-profile fashion magazine covers and establishing her presence in the fashion world was the model Kate Upton who seems to be taking the fashion world by storm. I still am enjoying the ever-popular Karlie Kloss and her amazing photoshoots that pop up constantly.
The Spring 2013 Fashion Week was heavily Instagram-ed popularizing such weird items as the Chanel’s Hula Hoop bag and Celine’s fur slippers.

Today has been one of those days where I just want to crawl under the covers and never see the light of day. I want to wrap myself in a cozy blanket with a cupe of tea and a good book. I want to lay on my leather couch next to the fireplace and listen to some Pandora while working on some editing in Photoshop. However, it feels like a manic Monday. After a long day of work I am taking 5 seconds to blog before I have to go pick up our 2 year old at my in-law's (thankful for a part-time sitters) and dreading al that has to be done tonight, including laundry and cleaning. I don't even know where to begin. I have emails to respon to, a part-time business venture that I am pouring heart and soul into, and just feel to busy and overwhelmed today. Winter blues are kicking in and I am freezing, tired, and just want to be lazy. Mom's can have a lazy day, right? Call me when this day is over...I am looking forward to a day off tomorrow. Oh wait, Christmas decor by the dozen needs to come down and get packed up. Sigh.

Karl Lagerfeld already stirred controversy when it was revealed that newcomer model Ondria Hardin would star in the new Chanel Spring/Summer 2013 campaign as it was unclear if she is under the age of 16 (she is either 15 or 16 but either age hasn't been confirmed). Now, a first look at the campaign has been unveiled. Ondria appears in the images alongside another new face, 16-year-old Yumi Lambert, while established model Stella Tennant poses beside them. As usual, the campaign was shot by Karl Lagerfeld.

They look really happy together....despite what people may think about them. I hope this lasts. I almost feel slightly sorry for Kim Kardashian. She truly wants a fairy-tale life, romance and baby included and I think she has finally found one. Good for her!

Happy (almost) New Year everybody! Exciting things are happening to LL&L (personally and career choices!) in 2013 and I cannot wait to share the excitement with you all! 2012 was a successful year for me personally; my store & company I work for is doing amazing and my husband and I myself were able to take mini-vaca's and enjoy ourselves. Our beautiful son will be turning three and this two-year-old filled year was full of memories, laughs, lots of words and phrases & a Christmas I will never forget!
I will be embarking on a part-time new career locally so more to come soon! I am working on the details now and I am very thankful for the amazing friends & family who are supporting me (and my husband who has been financially helpful) and cheering me on!
Have a great day celebrating the end of 2012 and the beginning of 2013! May your year be bright, blessed & sparkly!

Nimue Smith stars in Dior's "An Exceptional Christmas" lookbook, as captured by Koto Bolofo. Appearing inside a fantastical 'Alice in Wonderland' inspired world, Nimue is surrounded by giant flowers and explores an endless garden with oversized playing cards, blue butterflies and Dior's latest shoe and bag designs sprinkled around the hedgerows.

So I was recently told that I am very hard to buy for. Seriously? I think I am pretty easy to please. I am appreciative of any thoughtful gift (which let's face it, is so much better than a gift card-though they do come in handy) and I usually use everything I am given (ok, minus the neon green wine glasses which are hiding in the back of my cabinet). When it comes to clothes, I am a simple girl. Black, grey, navy, with just a touch of sparkle or sequins is acceptable. Accessories? I like my nautical-inspired goods (sucker for anchors or stripes) and when it comes to jewelry, the simpler, the better. I prefer silver over gold, though it is nice to have either (for those nights out where your gold adorned heels are a must). I prefer fruity candles (think apples, peaches, daquiris) or a light vanilla (not to be mistaken for "french vanilla" which makes me nauseous). Buttercream Yankee Candles are my absolute favorite, though the discontinued Vanilla Frosting candles I stock up on at the outlet stores are lit pretty much every day in my home. Speaking of home, anything "french country" white or teal/aqua/seafoam green makes me happy. I am a Disney fan and there are touches of the Mouse in all rooms of my house. Back to gift cards, Homegoods, TJ Maxx, or a simple Visa one are nice when you just want to do a little browsing and fall in love with something that isn't a necessity or something your husband would roll his eyes at.
Ok, maybe I am more complicated than I thought. I do love a good wine, handbag, and pair of shoes. I'd choose a $5 black tee to splurge on that glittered Tory Burch wallet and when it comes to flip-flops, yes they are casual, but they have to be comfy. Let's not go crazy. I don't spend $85 on rubber Burches. My $18 Havaiana's are casual, comfy and come in a million colors. I practially live in Starbucks so again, gift cards are great.
The real meaning of Christmas is giving. Celebrating our Lord's birthday with the people that you love is what matters most. The stress of what to buy and all to buy overpowers us all (especially during last minute wrapping sessions) but this year, especially after witnessing the horror of Sandy Hook, CT, I will be spending my minutes giving extra hugs, extra thank you's, and just trying to make the most "quality" time with family.
